“The California Coast,” features twenty plein-air paintings by Marcia Burtt that document the state’s western edge from Mendocino to San Diego.

This panoramic display is a unique opportunity to view the changes in topography from north to south on one wall. Coastlines facing west interspersed with our local south-facing coast offer views left, right, and out to sea from rocks, sand, eroding bluffs, sloughs, and beach towns. Changing weather, tides, and time of day transform light and color on sea and land.

Burtt’s loose, big-brush realism nails a specific time and place without too much detail, allowing viewers to bring their own experience to complete the paintings.
